| Summary / Abstaract (Note) | An interfaith service program attended by representatives from the Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Bahai and Buddhist faiths and convened by the Convener of the Strathclyde Region. Recognising ecumenical movements, His Holiness wel-comed the coming together of different religions, especially from the view point of their common purpose and goal-peace for mankind. He spoke of the importance of respecting the variety of paths since they reflect the diversity of personal and social needs. He stressed on need of spiritual practice to over-come self interest and develop an altruistic attitude.\ |
